WHAT WE DO
Car Design Shop Sokudo is a Melbourne, Australia based design studio specialising in custom livery, decal and graphic design inspired by the golden era of Japanese tuning culture.
Built from years of involvement within the Japanese automotive community, our designs draw influence from the iconic street cars, drift cars and circuit machines that defined the late 1990s and early 2000s. From subtle sponsor layouts and period-correct logo placement through to full competition liveries, every project is designed with attention to style, balance and authenticity.
Unlike a traditional sign shop, we understand the history behind the brands, vehicles and styling trends that shaped Japanese car culture. Whether you're building a clean street car, a time attack machine, a drift car or a show vehicle, we work closely with you to create graphics that complement the vehicle and reflect your vision.
STEP 1 - DESIGN
The first stage is the design process. Based on your chosen package, we will create a digital rendering of your vehicle and develop a layout that suits both the vehicle and your vision.
Every project begins with a design consultation to discuss your ideas, inspiration and desired style. From there, we create digital renderings and refine the design through up to two rounds of revisions before moving into the production stage.
STEP 2 - PRODUCTION
Once the design has been approved, we can provide a quotation for vinyl production and supply.
As every design differs in size, material usage, colour count and complexity, production costs cannot be accurately quoted until the design stage has been completed.
Graphics can be produced and supplied through Car Design Shop Sokudo, or production-ready vector files can be purchased via the applicable file release fee for those wishing to arrange production independently.
Tier 1 – Logo Package
Ideal for clean street cars, sponsor layouts and period-correct logo arrangements.
Includes:
- Front, side and rear logo placement
- Existing logos
- Multi-layer decal layouts
- Up to 2 revisions
- Digital renderings
Excludes:
- Custom graphic elements
- Base graphics, tribals, flames or custom artwork
Design Fee: $200 AUD
File Release Fee: $100 AUD
Tier 2 – Logo & Graphics Package
Ideal for more aggressive street builds requiring graphic elements in addition to logo placement.
Includes:
- Front, side and rear logo placement
- Existing logos
- Multi-layer decal layouts
- Base graphics including stripes, tribals, flames and other graphic elements
- Up to 2 revisions
- Digital renderings
Excludes:
- Extensive custom artwork creation
- Logo manipulation and integration
Design Fee: $350 AUD
File Release Fee: $175 AUD
Tier 3 – Bespoke Package
Designed for dedicated show, circuit and competition vehicles.
Includes:
- Complete vehicle livery design
- Front, side, rear, bonnet, roof and bumper integration
- Custom graphic elements
- Logo manipulation and integration
- Bespoke artwork and layout development
- Digital renderings

Frequently asked questions
Can you quote my decals before the design is completed?
No. Production costs are calculated after the design has been approved. As every project differs in size, material usage, colour count and complexity, an accurate production quote cannot be provided until the design stage has been completed.
Do I have to have my decals produced through Car Design Shop Sokudo?
No. Customers may choose to have their decals produced through Car Design Shop Sokudo or request production-ready vector files via the applicable file release fee and arrange production independently.
Do you install graphics?
No. Car Design Shop Sokudo currently provides design and vinyl production services only. Installation is not included.
Can you create graphics inspired by classic Japanese tuning cars?
Yes. Our designs are heavily influenced by the golden era of Japanese tuning culture and motorsport. Whether you're after a subtle period-correct sponsor layout or a complete competition-inspired livery, we can work with you to create a design that suits your vehicle and vision.
Can I supply my own logos?
Yes. Customers are welcome to provide their own logos, sponsor artwork and branding assets as part of the design process. Where possible, vector files such as AI, EPS, SVG or PDF formats are preferred to ensure the best possible quality.
Do you ship decals internationally?
Yes. We can supply and ship decals worldwide. Shipping costs and delivery times will vary depending on the size of the order and destination. International customers are encouraged to contact us before placing an order so we can discuss the best solution for their project.
